Atheism on rails?!

WTF!?!

‘The clown formerly known as Laloo’ has ordered Indian Railway authorities to remove the images of gods and goddesses from all the railway stations in the country.

I fail to see any rhyme or reason behind this communiqué. Can you?!

well given the nature of platforms - which are dirty, squalid and open air loos and trash cans - I for one am glad he moved the Gods and Goddesses out. Having them there is nothing short of desecration:)

Harini >> I’m sure Lalu had everything but desecration of the deities in mind when he ordered the ban!! :)

I’m positive that Laloo’s was trying to strengthen his own “secular” credentials. afterall next year are the assembly elections in Bihar.
But, I am truly greatful about the decision. There is nothing worse than this abject form of ritualism. Pray to God for all you want, but don’t expect him/her to be at your disposal on a public platform
I wish someone had the guts to get rid of all the illegal religious structures - temples, crosses and little masjids in Mumbai that choke up traffic and are a great money making racket. :)

I can’t believe Laloo has taken this step. This is something I would never expect out of him!

I don’t expect too much from him anyways.

This is a great step and hopefully there should be more of a debate to separate religon from the state institutions in India
