The silver bullet

Congratulations to Maj. Rajyavardhan Rathore for winning India’s first ever individual Olympic silver medal in the double-trap shooting event.

More than a moment to rejoice, it should be, for us Indians, a moment to heave a sigh of relief.

And I wish the President, Prime Minister and other ministers quit issuing congratulatory statements every time an Indian sportsperson does well in his/her sport. Instead, I’d much rather have them do something constructive for Indian sports, for a change.

more power to him! and talk of jumping on to the bandwagon, you should see the news channels falling over themselves to outdo one another in getting people to send congratulatory messages to Mr.Rathore!
