No negotiations please, we’re Indians
It has been far too long overdue… but the Government of India seems to have decided finally that it will have a “no-negotiation” policy when it comes to dealing with kidnappers in hostage situations.

Having a policy is an easy thing. It is implementing it that requires a spine, which is something that is generally not associated with the GOI. Additionally, what is the alternative. Consider that Indian citizen are held hostage either in India or abraod(recent case - Iraq). If we are not going to negotiate, what are our options? We definately don’t want to abandon our citizens.
If we are not going to negotiate, then we have to be prepared to use the military option. While using the Indian Armed forces in India is something that can be considered I am not sure how far does the strike capability of the Indian armed forces extend.
And history is any indicator then the future does not bode well for our hostages. The Kandahar hijacking incident. The plane landed in Amritsar but still we could not do anything about it. Contrast this with Israel’s rescue mission in Entebbe. I think there is even a movie about this.
