Butt of a joke!
As I was just reading Amit Varma’s take on the relevance of the term “Glued to the crease” with respect to Virender Sehwag, I was reminded of a term that the Pakistani opener Salman Butt used in an interview today morning.
As a ’steady’ drizzle in Chandigarh steadily poured water over enthusiasm all over the country, the commentators analysed Day 1 to death. In the midst of all the analysis, Ravi Shastri interviewed Pakistani opener, Salman Butt. The young batsman was critical of his own self as he blamed his poor footwork for his dismissal. He said that the ball did nothing special (Irfan Pathan might have other ideas about that, though). He went on to say that his feet were in the toilet when he played the shot that got him out.
Eh?!
Butt on the ground and feet in the toilet! … no wonder he was clean bowled then!!

I think what he meant was that when you’re in the toilet or washroom, you’re very careful of your steps and you do not shuffle quickly to readjust your stance like you do when youre batting against a fast bowler. There is no assurance of how wet the floor maybe & you are prone to falling flat on your ‘Butt’ if there is any rapid foot movement. Hence the expression, ‘my feet were stuck in the toilet’.
