Illogical BEST strike

The indefinite strike called by four BEST unions is patently illogical if not illegal.

Not plying the buses will naturally lead to inconvenience for the daily BEST commuters. And if the unions feel that this inconvenience will result in public pressure on the BEST administration to give in to the unions’ demands, then I daresay that Sharad Rao has another think coming!!

People have been subjected to a recent hike in ticket prices. And I think they’ve accepted the fact that the price hike was overdue and haven’t complained about it. But with the strike, why should we (the people) bear the brunt of a dispute that is essentially between the workers’ unions and the BEST management?! Keeping the buses off the road will in fact not hurt the management at all! After all, a day’s expenses to keep the buses running on the road have been saved. The only ones to feel the effect of the strike are the commuters… and that too after having agreed to pay more for their travel only recently. And this will only increase the public ire towards the BEST unions rather than generate sympathy for them. The union leaders should realise that transport services are not in the same league as, say, mills where the effect of a strike is felt more by the management and less by the general public.

That’s why I feel the strike is illogical.
