Ganguly’s next score - a prediction

Sourav Ganguly has been the butt of numerous jokes in the last few days…

People calling him prefer to hold the line if he’s just gone in to bat. Kids are taught to boil instant noodles for the amount of time Ganguly spends at the crease. People wonder why Ganguly puts on zinc cream (as a sunscreen) when he goes out to bat…

I don’t think it’s fair to heap scorn on someone who’s led India to most number of Test wins… but then, I can’t resist this…

21, 12, 12, 1, 2, ??

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that these are Ganguly’s pathetic scores against Pakistan in the recently concluded Test series. But can you use the numbers to predict what Sourav Ganguly would score in his next outing??

Alongwith a colleague of mine, I came up with a prediction! Look at the numbers once again…

21 (-9) 12 (+0) 12 (-11) 1 (+1) 2

Concentrate on the italicized figures between Ganguly’s scores. If we continue the series, it comes to…

21 (-9) 12 (+0) 12 (-11) 1 (+1) 2 (-13) -11

So the next number in the series is negative eleven (-11). But of course, we can’t have a negative score, can we? The lowest is zero.

So we can say that Ganguly will score a duck in the next innings and will be a slob in the field, giving away 11 runs to the opposing team!! ;-)
