Damp pitches and soft minds

Oh c’mon!! … a delayed start due to a damp pitch??!

If they did this in England, cricket would never be played there at all!!

So what if the ball seams a bit early on… so what if the ball doesn’t come on to the bat all that much in the first few overs… so what if the spectators don’t get to see a slam-bang start to the first innings?!!

If they can play on a pitch that takes a sharp turn only in the second innings, then surely thay can play on a pitch that helps the seamers in the first innings!!

C’mon… Sourav and Inzy!! You are underestimating the batting skills of your openers if you show reluctance to play citing a damp pitch!! So get cracking gentlemen… stop being such sissies!!

Slow day at work, so keeping up with the scores… Tendulkar strikes a purple patch.. so does the top half of pakistan’s lineup. Looks like it is going to the wire. though methinks its going to end up 2-2 by evening :)

sp >> Yes. Tendulkar played a lovely innings. For the last couple of years, he had shelved one of his best shots… coming down the wicket to spinners to loft them for sixes. But today, he used that shot to great effect against Kaneria and Afridi. I think he played an unfettered innings today and it paid off!

As for the outcome of today’s match, I had predicted at the Bloggers’ Meet that Pakistan would win the Ahmedabad match. Let’s see if the Indian team can surprise me! ;-)
