The reason why Indians are ‘victims’ of racial profiling…
… is that there is a growing unwritten practice at international airports around the world, to target Indians for extra screening and intensive checks because security agencies worldwide feel that terrorists trained in Pakistan slip comfortably into India, through the atrociously porous international border that India shares with Pakistan, and travel out of India with Hindu, Christian or even Jew names and of course, fake passports… which are easy to procure on either side of the border!
Call it racial profiling or statistical prudence… one thing is clear. If you are an Indian and are subjected to random/targetted screening at western airports while travelling, don’t jump out of the blocks with a ‘racial profiling’ charge. Reserve a big chunk of that blame for the government… for being unable to secure the borders even after years of infiltration and cross-border terrorism.
Of course, if you get hauled off a flight for not abiding by the basic flight etiquettes, you have only yourselves to blame!!
