Imran Khan has apparently blamed Pervez Musharraf for the breakup of his marriage with Jemima Goldsmith…

“Jemima’s spirit was broken by personal attacks on her by the regime of Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, in a bid to sink me,” Imran told Hello magazine.

“I think she gave up. She thought it was a never-ending struggle and she didn’t believe I would make it.”

Egad!! … that has to be the most pathetic excuse for a marriage breaking up that I’ve ever heard!!

Uma Bharti broke the law on August 14, 2004, when she defied court orders, banning assembly at the disputed Idgah ground, and led an agitation to the ground.

I do not think anyone, BJP included, contests this claim.

But this…

“It is a serious crime when one violates prohibitory orders. And the entire thing (Uma Bharti hoisting national flag at the Maidan) was only aimed to incite communal disturbances,” party politburo member Sitaram Yechuri said.

… is ridiculous!!

Yechuri is clearly implying that hositing the national flag is a communal act and that it sparked off the riots. Surely, Indian muslims should take offense at such an implication!!

Lets see if they actually do!!

‘The clown formerly known as Laloo’ has ordered Indian Railway authorities to remove the images of gods and goddesses from all the railway stations in the country.

I fail to see any rhyme or reason behind this communiqué. Can you?!

The Sept 11 panel confirms what everyone has known forever - that Pakistan has had close links with Osama Bin Laden.

But the panel, quite puzzlingly, goes on to recommend long-term military and other aid to Pakistan, inspite of its tendency to get cozy with the terrorists!!

The panel blames Pakistan’s links with Osama on the endemic poverty in the country…

“Pakistan’s endemic poverty, widespread corruption, and often ineffective government create opportunities for Islamist recruitment…Millions of families, especially those with little money, send their children to religious schools or madrassas. Many of these schools are the only opportunity available for an education, but some have been used as incubators for violent extremism,”

Oh thats just great, isn’t it?! When it comes to Pakistan, its the poverty that drives them to terrorism. When it comes to other countries, its their fundamentalist Islamic ideologies! Talk about having different standards for different people!! :-|

Don’t these people realize that even though Musharraf seems to be rooting out the terrorists (mind you, only the ones that are hurting the US!), the army wields trememdous power in Pakistani politics. And it is this army that controls the ISI and its shady going-ons. So in giving military aid to Pakistan, the US is, in the long term, funding terrorism against itself!!

Ironic… yes! Stupid… yes! Bush… of course!!
