Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: A review
Book - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Author - J.K. Rowling
Rating -
Harry Potter has returned!
After a long two-year wait, JK Rowling obliges her young fans with the sixth and the penultimate instalment in the continuing saga of the boy-wizard. And what we get is a book that’s thankfully leaner than its predecessor, which was a boulder… 870 pages long! At around 200 pages less, this one is just right! But what’s within those 650 pages is what matters!
So let’s see… if this Half-Blood Prince is really worth the long wait!

Not quite full-blooded action in the Half-Blood Prince
With just about 100 pages of this book left to read, I feel an overwhelming sense of expectation from the last 100 pages.
And that’s because JK Rowling has taken too long to set a coherent tempo in a narrative that goes nowhere at times and makes you plough through pairs of ’snogging’ teens!
But as with other Potter novels, when Rowling starts up the action, she keeps it taut and suspenseful.

Big B visits Siddhivinayak
The Bachchans started the journey from their Juhu bungalow Jalsa at 1.45 am and covered the 10 km stretch in about two hours without taking a single halt along the way.
Dozens of policemen and a few personal friends of the Bachchans followed in a convoy of cars.
Despite drizzles and periodic heavy showers, the Big B kept his cool and chanted Ganpati Bappa Moriya along with the hundreds of devotees.[Source: Mid-Day]
Darn!! … Missed the spectacle!! ;-)

Shantaram: A review
Book - Shantaram: A novel
Author - Gregory David Roberts
Rating -
There are classics and then there are classics. And when all classification of classics is complete, remain the books, that will never be elevated to the status of classics, but are just too damned unputdownable to ignore!
“Shantaram: A Novel” is one such book! 936 pages of pure, unadulterated masala, crime, philosophy, friendship, love and betrayal… with a liberal dash of self-aggrandization thrown in for good measure!

A Tale of Two Fernando Alonsos
This has been a week of Fernando Alonsos…
One of them won a stunning duel with Michael Schumacher at the San Marino F1 Grand Prix, making it his third win in a row!
… while the other successfully managed the maiden flight of the Super Jumbo, the A380, as it’s chef d’orchestre.
