All that the government of India seems to be doing these days is exercise censorship in its various forms!

Terrorists are bombing our cities. Farmers are committing suicides. Cities and electrified border fences are without electricity. Prices are shooting up all the time. But hey… who cares about those things?!! Don’t we elect the government to decide what’s right for us and what’s not?!

In a bizarre move, the Congress-led Maharashtra government has decided to ban taking pictures of Ganesh idols that are washed ashore after the immersion at the end of the Ganesh festival.

Seeing the partially dissolved/disfigured idols of their favourite deity might hurt people’s religious sentiments, argues the government!!

Religious sentiments… hmmm… I don’t know!! But this arbitrary decision has sure hurt whatever faint traces of libertarian sentiments I possess!!

If the recent Bollywood fare has been disappointing in terms of entertainment value, politics has more than made up for it! The potboilers in Goa, Bihar and Jharkhand have been followed by the recent high tension drama within the BJP, with LK Advani as the leading actor!!

With that drama losing its fizz, R S S chief K.S. Sudarshan stoked the fires of controversy by likening politicians to prostitutes. He says,

“We have kept ourselves away from politics as salvation cannot be attained through it. Politics keeps changing every minute. Like a prostitute who keeps changing her form, politics also keeps changing its appearance. There is no permanent element in politics,”

Hmmm… very apt, I’ll say!! But then… taking the analogy forward, I’ll also say that people like Sudarshan and Togadia… ideologues, who need politicians to promote their ideologies are nothing but pimps!!

Aah… now the analogy seems complete!! … wot say Mr. Sudarshan?

“Personally I hate Modi and his politics, but… “

Does that sound familiar?! … Well, of course it does!! That’s the refrain almost everyone has been singing ever since the US government, in a fit of self-righteous grandstanding, decided to refuse a diplomatic visa for Narendra Modi and while at it, also cancelled the visa he was already holding.

Everyone knows that a country has every right to decide who should be allowed in and who should be barred from entering it. I have no issues with the fact that the US chose to deny Modi a visa. And I believe no one in India does too! But the justification that the US has been offering for its act is ridiculous and deserves all the derision being heaped on it!

The Government of India, the Indian media and the public in general have shown how hollow the US claims are. Article after article has been appearing in the media raking up instances after instances in which the US has acted in a diametrically opposite manner in similar circumstances.

With the Kishlay kidnapping generating so much political smoke with both Lalu Prasad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan accusing each other, there just had to be some kind of fire!

And it doesn’t take too much guesswork to deduct why the gangster Vicky thakur, prime accused in the Kishlay kidnapping, was killed in police firing!
